Stones’ goal against Hungary saves England from defeat

 The England National Team avoided an embarrassing result after a 1-1 draw with Hungary in the 2022 World Cup Qualification Group I European Zone at Wembley Stadium, England, Wednesday, October 13 in the morning WIB.

The Hungarian visitors even took the lead through Roland Sallai’s goal, before John Stones saved England face with an equaliser.

Playing at home, England immediately pressed Hungary when the first half began. England appeared dominant for 20 minutes, but they were difficult to penetrate the tight defense of Hungary.

Disaster struck England in the 23rd minute after Luke Shaw violated Loic Nego in the penalty box. The referee decided to award a penalty to Hungary after reviewing VAR.

Rolland Sallai’s penalty managed to outwit goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and put Hungary ahead 0-1.

Left behind by one goal, England tried to equalize by increasing the tempo of the game.

In the 37th minute, England’s efforts paid off thanks to John Stones’ goal from close range after snatching the ball from Phil Foden’s free kick from the left. The position is 1-1.

The 1-1 draw between England and Hungary lasted until halftime.

In the second half, England tried hard to get ahead by playing dominantly. A number of chances were created by Gareth Southgate’s men, but the Hungarian defense could thwart them.

In the 70th minute, England had a chance through Raheem Sterling’s right foot kick from inside the penalty box. Unfortunately, the pace of the ball is still too weak to break into the goal guard Peter Gulacsi.

England and Hungary had to end the match with the final score 1-1.

This result keeps England firmly at the top of Group I with 20 points from eight matches, while Hungary is ranked fourth with 11 points.
