MILAN — Inter Milan centre-back Stefan de Vrij has denied any rumors linking him to Tottenham Hotspur. Rumors circulated that Spurs coach Antonio Conte wanted to pull the Dutch national team’s doorstop.
De Vrij had the opportunity to explain what really happened. First, he felt it was natural, if there was an issue like this. The reason, he and Conte know each other.
They had worked together at Inter. But after that, he admitted that he had never been contacted by the allenatore. The former Lazio is currently defending his country in the November 2021 edition of the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers.
“Now I focus on the national team. Then, of course I will think about Inter, not Tottenham,” said De Vrij.
The 29-year-old defender is part of De Orange’s squad for the nearest agenda. The Netherlands will face the host Montenegro at the Podgorica City Stadium, Sunday (13/11) early morning WIB. Four days later, Louis van Gaal’s polish squad hosted Norway at Feyenoord Stadium.
After the international break, De Vrij returned to his club. When fit, he is always one of the Nerazzurri’s main sponsors. Obviously, the fashion city elite wouldn’t let the defender go to another team.
This is De Vrij’s fourth season with Inter Milan. So far, he has appeared in 139 matches in various competitions, scoring eight goals. He already felt the Scudetto trophy in his blue and black costume.
Their target is to maintain what has been obtained. Inter also want to be competitive in Europe. De Vrij is still part of the club’s plans.
In the summer of 2021, the Nerazzurri have already lost several important players. Romelu Lukaku to Chelsea. Then Achraf Hakimi landed at Paris Saint-Germain.
Inter do not want a similar story to repeat itself. Therefore they are ready to defend classy assets such as Stefan de Vrij, Marcelo Brozovic, Lautaro Martinez, and Nicolo Barella.
