LONDON – Chelsea are reportedly considering returning Saul Niguez to Atletico Madrid in the January window. The midfielder is the most valuable player who lived life as a substitute.

According to a report in  Diario Sport, quoted by Football Espana, Wednesday (10/11), the former Atletico Madrid player, who is on loan at Stamford Bridge, is valued at 40 million euros but has earned only a few minutes playing in the Chelsea first team.

Niguez has played just 438 minutes in eight games under Thomas Tuchel, and it is thought the London club have no intention of triggering a buyout option which they kept in their loan deal.

In fact, they might even try to send the midfielder back to Madrid in January. He is followed on the list by Bryan Gil (30 million euros), Donny van de Beek (25 million euros), Luka Jovic (20 million euros) and Reiner Jesus (16 million euros).

Gil played just 575 minutes in 12 games at Tottenham Hotspur, while Van de Beek played just 154 minutes in five games for Manchester United.

Jovic has played in seven games at Real Madrid, while Reiner, who is on loan at Borussia Dortmund from Madrid, featured in eight.

Also on the list is Barcelona centre-back Clement Lenglet. The Frenchman, who signed for 35 million euros from Sevilla in the summer of 2018, is the fourth or even fifth option in the center of defense at Camp Nou

Lenglet has only played 374 minutes in eight games this season. Gerard Pique, Eric Garcia, Ronald Araujo and even Oscar Mingueza have all been chosen before him.
